You Rock Card

So, just when I thought the news couldn't get any better, my niece - who is a 3rd grader and taking the TAKS test for the first time herself - tells me she passed BOTH tests with 100%. I was so excited for her!! So, I was obviously going to take the opportunity to make another card.

The funny thing is, I thought I would never use my cricut for card marking, because I bought it with the sole intention of making my son's scrapbook. Needless to say, I am yet to get started on that. But hey, I'm glad to announce that the cards didn't take over 2 hours like the first two or three...I'm actually down do about 30-45 minutes. YAY me!!

Congratulations!!!

This week, my sister called me with GREAT news - she was recognized at her district's board meeting for her class being the only 3rd grade, bilingual class in the district where 100% of the students passed the TAKS test. Wow! Did I mention this is only her first year teaching? I had to make her a card to congratulate her for her achievement, so after going through Graphically Speaking for something completely different, I came up with the idea for this card.

FYI - it's not technically enough said, because I'm about to go back and write quite a bit in there :)

A Baby Shower

My best friend's baby shower is tomorrow afternoon, and I had not bought a card in hopes of making one. Needless to say, I wasn't going to bed tonight until I accomplished that task (way to procrastinate). Since I'm new to crafting, and things don't come to me all that quick, I really had to play around with it until I made something I actually liked. I'm sure I could've "blog hopped" until I found some great ideas, but I wanted to make something myself. So, after a few scraps of cardstock, and lots of extra, unused cutouts later, this is what I came up with...

I used the New Arrival cartridge and my Cuttlebug (as you can see I'm currently a bit addicted to it)

Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day was coming up fast, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out a few of my new gadgets. Since I don't seem to have a lot of extra time on my hands, I finally just asked my honey to watch baby Lucas for a little while so I could get a few cards done. ...I think I did pretty good for a first timer! and hey, you gotta' start somewhere, right?! I used my E, my gypsy, Walk in My Garden cart, my cuttlebug and a stamp set I ordered (for the "Mother" on the first card)....I tried to use a little bit of everything, to justify all the recent expenses :)

My very first project

Working full time with a baby at home hasn't allowed me too much time to play with all my wonderful new toys. I guess I needed a little "push" to get me started, and since I had a baby shower coming up, I figured that would be the perfect opportunity. I wanted something simple and quick to make, so I made my very first card using only my cuttlebug

The beginning...

So, I've always been told I needed to find a hobby, so here I am! My baby boy was born in December, and I went out and bought my very first SLR camera to capture every moment of his little life on film...my intentions? Scrapbook it all! It started on my 3-month maternity leave...I had way too much time to blog surf (since I recently learned blogs even existed), bid on ebay, and read the Cricut Messageboards. My, no one warned me of the additiction that could be created by combining all of the above! :)

Needless to say, I purchased a cricut expression, quite a few cartridges, a cuttlebug, a Gypsy, an ATG gun, a few stamps sets (and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things) to get me started, so here we go....
